After returning home from a family beach vacation, our very own Dr. Truong stepped on the scale to find that he had gained a whopping 17lbs- in just one week! How could this have happened? Has all of his hard work to get fit and healthy been erased? 

You, too, may be familiar with this scenario. It is easy to get lost in the moment while on holiday; we indulge, we consume more and exercise less, it is a vacation, after all. The good news is, you can repair the damage if you act swiftly and get back into your doctor recommended routine. Here are some tips to help you keep focused.

DETOX

We aren’t talking supplements or teas. Follow these simple steps to NATURALLY DETOX:

  • DRINK WATER: Start simply with drinking more water to help flush out your system. 
  • DETOXIFYING FOODS: The beauty of natural foods is that they give you what your body needs. Raw vegetables, Leafy Greens,  and Fresh fruits, Garlic, Citrus, Omega 3 oils (Avocado, Olive, Flax), Citrus, and Green tea are all excellent sources to rid your body of toxins
  • ALCOHOL & SUGAR: Cut back or hop back on the wagon for a while. 

EAT

Don’t starve yourself! Instead, eat good for you foods and eat in moderation- you aren’t on vacation anymore! Consider trying intermittent fasting or mimicking fasting diet like PROLON. MOVE

Get back on your exercise routine. You likely have a lot of life stuff to catch up on after vacation, so don’t stress if you can’t make it to the gym every day. Take a walk after you eat. Do some push-ups at the kitchen counter. You will soon ease back into what feels good.
