It depends. If you have pseudogynecomastia, which is composed of fat, diet and exercise can help reduce the appearance of gynecomastia “man boobs”. However, if you have significant true gynecomastia with enlarged breast glands, then enlarging the pectoral muscles may actually accentuate the problem, making it appear worse.

However, since most cases of gynecomastia are idiopathic of unknown cause, man-boobs can happen to anyone, even the healthiest and most in-shape men.
Surgeons are the way to go to fully remove the gland which causes the puffy appearance of your breasts. I have a mild enough case of gynecomastia that I have avoided this option. By maintaining a relatively healthy lifestyle and reasonable body fat, as well as developing my chest quite a bit in the gym, I have achieved an aesthetic that I am okay with. If I had the more severe cases I have seen others experience online, I think I would do the same thing I have done, but combine it with surgery so that my hard work wouldn’t pronounce the appearance of a more severe form of gynecomastia.
In summary, You have to have pseudogynecomastia, its composed of mostly fat and no breast gland is present. True gynecomastia is when you have a breast gland. It is possible to have true and pseudogynecomastia at the same time.
